EMPILON® series: 500 series

General
A wide variety and economic of articles can be made from EMPILON® 500 series compounds by using conventional molding or other forming techniques familiar to the thermoplastics industry. However, there are some differences in the processing behavior of these materials relative to other thermoplastics that necessitates minor modifications in mold designs and in processing conditions to achieve optimum performance.

Processing
EMPILON® 500 series compounds may reaction with oxidation, and so degradation can occur at excessively high temperature and shear conditions.
To minimize this degradation, the recommended processing temperature range is from 320 ~375 oF (160~190 oC). Molten material should not be allowed to sit in the processing equipment for long time periods. It is also desirable to maintain shear rates in the lower range of the respective thermoplastic processes. Thus, increasing the melt temperature beyond approximately 375 oF（190 oC）can increase melt viscosity and reduce output.
Moreover, thermoplastic elastomers EMPILON® also offer good weather ability, low temperature flexible, recyclable and easy process. Usually we recommend customers can pre-dry before thermoplastic processing.
Storage
Storage at room temperature（23 oC）in the original sealed bag and keep out water evaporation or high humidity place. General speak, Thermoplastic elastomer EMPILON® compound can storage over 6 months from shipment date.
